Day five of our hiking trip in the Lake District (no, I haven't posted about days one to four), we walked into Troutbeck and stopped for the lunch at the Mortal Man. Ordering our Real Ales, madtechie2718 says to me, "Look, there's a copy of Turn Left." The woman behind the bar says, "Yes, it just arrived today. About fifteen minutes ago."

"You realize, the author is right here..."

madtechie2718 posted that on his facebook as well. So cool.

Imagine the stories she'll be telling about it. :-)

Well, that certainly justified hauling Dermot around for a week...

Excellent! Good pub that, too (did you get to the Wasdale Head Inn? It's great).

Never been to the Wasdale Head Inn, alas. The closest I would have come was when I hiked to Black Sail Youth Hostel in March, 1976, through waist deep snow, with two strangers whom I had met on the bus to Coniston; it was my first trip to the lakes, and unforgettable.
