 Happy Veteran's Day edition...

I am in Castel Gandolfo today, scrambling to get ready for tomorrow...

Tomorrow I head into Rome first to meet with the person who will be doing the layout for our book on Astronomy, to be published in honor of the International Year of Astronomy. I am supposed to have all the material ready by then. Ha! After that, a new astronomer in our group (David Brown, soon to be PhD from Oxford) and I will be going over to meet my boss's boss, the cardinal who is essentially mayor of Vatican City. Should be fun.

This weekend, I am home and planning on showing movies in our classroom. Have to check with whoever will be around, to see what their tastes are.

Monday, tentatively, I head off to Florence for a month of intensive tutorial to improve my Italian. While I can speak well enough to "get by," after 15 years of living here I am embarrassed at how poorly I understand conversations. I mostly get by on guessing what people are talking about... which is always dangerous. I happen to have the time to do that now, and so I jumped at the chance. Should be interesting. And a nice break from all the running around here. Of course, you may not be able to understand my LJ entries after a couple weeks immersion into Italian.
