You're never too old...

...to do something really stupid.

At pranzo yesterday, Sabino mentioned that he'd been up to our Visuale telescope (a 40 cm refractor that has a Coronado solar telescope bolted to its side) to use the Coronado for a little solar observing; he saw a prominent, um, prominence... I guess that's why they're called that... which is certainly cool. But then he mentioned that whoever was last in the telescope dome had left all the switches on, with the drive motor running, and the telescope had driven itself into the observer's platform. What fool had done that kind of rookie mistake?

Yeah. That would have been me. From a tour I gave on Sunday. Five days of the telescope grinding itself into the building.

Apparently no permanent damage was done. Except to my self-esteem.
