Interesting doors

Trying out the "upload pictures" feature here...

The little church of St. Thomas Villanova in Castel Gandolfo, summer home of popes and location of the Vatican Observatory, was renovated this summer. Along with restoring the outside paint to a white that some say was what Bernini intended when he designed it (and others insist was just the primer coat 400 years ago), they have also installed a small door around to the left, consisting of the following artwork commemorating the visit this past summer of a certain local summer parishioner:

Interesting... stars and some falling things (meteors? meteorites?) up in the sky.

Looking more closely at the bottom right, one sees that the artist has written some very arcane bits on the figure of the noted visitor:

Just outside the picture (to the left of the Hubble Equation noted above) is a copy of a DNA double helix.

We have no idea who came up with the idea for this image. We just think it is really neat.
