Infiorata (a week late)

Bernini started it, I am told... the idea of making images in the streets out of flower petals. In 1789, the town of Genzano south of Rome started a festival that has grown into the most noted annual occurrence of an "infiorata"... the weekend following the Feast of Corpus Christi, the main street (going uphill so as to be easily visible) is covered with a series of images, usually religious, and the town has a great party celebrating it. It ends on Monday night with all the kids in the town running through the flowers. (The dark parts are made of coffee.)

The coolest part... is that it is walking distance (about 4 km) from where I live. (Please don't ask for details about how they do it, I don't know!)
